Rodas de Choro

Rodas de Choros are gatherings during which musicians from all background are invited to discover and celebrate Brazilian culture with music. Organised by the Club du Choro de Montréal, a group of artists who perpetuate this urban music, the event takes place at the Centre des musiciens du monde.

Created around the end of the 19th century in Rio de Janeiro, choro was first inspired by European music styles such as waltz, mazurka, polka and sottische that were, back then, played in a Brazilian (or Afro-Brazilian) way.
