Mini-session of French and English contradances with Anne-Marie Gardette and Pierre Chartrand

At the Centre des musiciens du monde, you have the chance to learn the contredanses of France, the country dances of England, and those of New France with teachers who are undisputed experts in the transmission of these repertoires.
We will approach the essential Livre de contredances (or Manuscrit de Trois-Rivières) from the end of the 18th century, with the baroque steps and figures specific to these French contredanses (in square). We will also see the English forms of the contredanse (column, circle, square, etc.) both North American and European.
