5 @ 7 to the sounds of the world – exchanges between newcomers and musicians from the Montreal world | Kiya Tabassian, the setar and Persian musical culture

Cultural mediation workshop with AIEM (Welcome to immigrants from East Montreal)

This project will allow newcomers living in eastern Montreal to discover different musical traditions from around the world through a series of meetings-workshops with professional immigrant and Quebec musicians established in Montreal.

Kiya offers Setar lessons at the World Musicians Center. He has performed on stages around the world and contributed to many eclectic projects as a composer, performer and improviser. Many musical groups and institutions have called on his talents as a composer, including the Orchester symphonique de Montréal, the Nouvel Ensemble Moderne and the European Broadcasting Union.
