Eastern European Violin

Individual classes by Tanya Karamanos

Are you attracted by the suave violin melodies of Eastern Europe? Are you impressed by the speed in which these violinists play? This class is for you!

The repertoire covered in this class will cover both traditional Romanian violin playing and the lautareasca style for more advanced players. As for the Ukrainian repertoire, I will cover nostalgic ballads, polkas and Zabava repertoire (celebration music). The Russian repertoire we will cover can be both traditional and more commercial while exposing the student to the various regions of the nation. Both rural and urban repertoire will be targeted. Russian Roma music will also be studied in order to understand the differences between both repertoires.
