Maloya Choir (Reunion Island)

Group classes by Zilien Biret

Reunion Island, located in the middle of the Indian Ocean has a history very close to that of Quebec. Despite the influence of the French colonization, Reunion proudly bears its Métis identity, which it expresses through the “Kréol Réunionnais”, a national language very similar to the Joual Québécois.

Maloya has its roots in the sounds of South India, Madagascar, East Africa and Europe.

Zilien Biret invites you to join this new choir to learn songs from the traditional and contemporary repertoire of the Indian Ocean and taste the sweetness of the tropics. Open to musicians and non-musicians, you will discover songs, rhythms and harmonies typical of Reunion, all in a warm atmosphere of sharing.
