Born into a family of musicians, Lucas grew up listening to the rhythms and traditional music of Recife and Brazil. He studied classical guitar on his own, and went on to study jazz guitar at Saint-Laurent CEGEP.

He is interested in blending traditional world music, especially rhythmically. He is currently performing with Instância, a mandolin-guitar duo that blends the warmth of Recife with Quebec winters, navigating through song and instrumental music.
