Christine Séguin
For Christine, teaching music is the convergence point between imagination, creativity, and openness to others and their sensibilities, within a methodological framework. This passion first took shape through rigorous training in classical piano. Before obtaining her music concentration diploma from Pierre-Laporte High School, her DEC from Cégep Saint Laurent, and her bachelor’s degree from UQAM, she began her training at the age of seven with private lessons.
Over the past 17 years, Christine has gained experience in several environments steeped in values that have shaped her teaching approach through contact with inspiring teams. Among these, Le Garage à Musique de la fondation du docteur Julien, La Musique aux enfants de l’OSM, Les petits chanteurs du Mont-Royal, La Coopérative des professeurs de musique de Montréal, the Pierre-Laporte Music Academy, and the École de musique Enchantée have influenced her the most.
Music touches people on both an intimate and collective level. It brings together imagination and reality, emotion and reason, thought and body. Music knows no boundaries; it reflects our cultures. That is why Christine attaches particular importance to discovering and learning a diverse repertoire as part of our human heritage. Using a playful approach that focuses on developing skills through enjoyment and perseverance, Christine encourages her students to listen rhythmically, creatively, sensorially, and introspectively, allowing them to go beyond intellectual learning and invest their whole being in living music.
This 50-minute workshop invites children to immerse themselves in a collective artistic adventure combining storytelling, shadows theater, poetry, and music.
By writing an original story, creating characters, singing, kirigami, and exploring sound, they develop their imagination, listening skills, and enjoyment of creating as a group.
The workshop concludes with a collaborative performance, where children become storytellers, musicians, and creators of their own poetic universe.
