Alix Noël-Guéry
Alix Noël-Guéry is a Quebec pianist of Haitian origin, a traveler of sounds and cultures, who has lived in Brazil and New York.
His career has led him to weave a musical language at the crossroads of classical, jazz, and world traditions. Trained at Vincent-d’Indy, Berklee College of Music, Boston University, and during internships in northeastern Brazil, he has developed a lively teaching style in which improvisation and diverse repertoires nurture the encounter between students and music.
On stage, Alix has collaborated extensively, resulting in albums, awards, and several international tours. His explorations, supported by arts councils, have led him to Haitian and Brazilian rhythms, Latin piano, and the traditional colors of Eastern Europe and the Balkans. With Vision Diversité, he has participated in projects celebrating the fusion of Quebec music and world sounds, where each concert becomes a living mosaic.
His journey also took him to California, where he completed a doctorate in music psychology devoted to the energetic dimensions of sound, inspired by the traditions of the Himalayas and Mexico. Between the stage and research, Alix weaves an art where music becomes a journey, an encounter, and an inner transformation.
The piano was born from an Italian idea taken over, perfected and disseminated by the French and Germans then developed and industrialized by the British later joined by the Americans who completed it with a new German contribution, It emerged about 150 years ago as a synthesis of a standard still in force today.
Today, this instrument is used in many different styles of music around the world. The piano is therefore commonly used in other musical genres, such as jazz, blues or ragtime, as well as salsa and also in the chaâbi, a style of music specific to Algeria.
