Santiago Ferrer
Santiago Ferrer, a Colombian pianist, composer, and teacher based in Tiohtià:ke/Montreal, combines classical training with expertise in jazz and world music.
Educated at the National University of Colombia, Santiago studied with renowned musicians such as Guillermo Klein (ARG), Carlos Aguirre (ARG), Salim Washington (USA), Jeremy Siskind (USA), Itibere Zwarg (BRA), Antonio Arnedo (COL), Carlos Malta (BRA), and Benjamin Taubkin (BRA), and has performed at prestigious jazz festivals in Colombia and Brazil. His talent has been recognized with several awards, including the best music thesis award at the National University of Colombia for his series of compositions “Ida & Vuelta” in 2019.
Currently a master’s student at the University of Montreal, Santiago is developing an innovative project that fuses Colombian music, jazz, and improvisation. His active participation in the Montreal music scene, with groups such as Café Fuerte, Kulusé Souriant Sextet, and Raiz Viva, showcases his versatility and openness to various musical styles.
