The daf is a frame drum originating from Kurdish traditions. Widely used throughout Iran, Turkey, and Iraq, it is played vertically. Metal rings are attached to the inside of the frame, giving the player an infinite range of sounds and textures. The daf can be adapted to almost any musical style and can be learned in individual or group lessons.
