Détails de l'événement

The Masmoudi Quartet brings together four exceptional musicians: Guillaume Martineau on piano, Rémi-Jean LeBlanc on double bass, Gabriel Paquin-Buki on clarinet, and Mohamed Masmoudi on oud, who also serves as artistic director. Their richly colored instrumental music is distinguished by its virtuosity, sensitivity, and constantly renewed inventiveness.

At the heart of the project, the Eastern musical tradition—Mediterranean and African—permeates each of Masmoudi’s compositions, woven with unique modes and meters. The group’s repertoire embraces improvisation, navigating between the languages of jazz and classical subtleties, with klezmer accents, tango rhythms, and even a Baroque counterpoint that gently glides toward a Brazilian bossa nova.

Masmoudi’s works fill a vital space for Eastern music in the West, in a spirit of openness and sharing. They carry within them the breath of a life that began in Tunisia, continued beyond the seas, nourished by multiple influences gleaned along the way.
