With Fragments d’une autre histoire, Reza Abaee weaves an intimate dialogue between memory, poetry, and improvisation, inviting audiences to discover lesser-known facets of the rich Persian musical heritage.
Carried by the deep, expressive sonorities of his gheychak, the musician of Iranian origin revisits melodies drawn from the classical Persian tradition, infusing them with his own sensibility and unique artistic journey. Each piece becomes a fragment of history, a sonic evocation of the great themes running through Iranian culture: love, exile, the spiritual quest, nature, and the passage of time.
Drawing inspiration from the world of the great Persian poets such as Hafez, Omar Khayyam, and Rumi, Reza Abaee gives musical voice to the depth of their work. Between original compositions, improvisations, and reinterpretations of the traditional repertoire, this concert offers a contemplative journey into the heart of a thousand-year-old tradition, where poetry and music answer one another to reveal stories that remain very much alive.

Serre l’écoute is a vocal trio that has spent over 25 years passionately exploring the French-language oral tradition repertoire. Liette Remon, Gabrielle Bouthillier, and Robert Bouthillier introduce audiences to the richness and diversity of this vast repertoire, drawing on their own field collections and various archival sources to uncover unpublished versions and rare gems. Ambassadors of ancient know-how acquired through contact with numerous tradition bearers, they sing the old way, with untempered scales, unpulsed rhythms, and ornamented phrasing. Add to that organic polyphonic arrangements that seem to rise from the songs themselves, as though they had always been there waiting for their voices to settle… that is Serre l’écoute.

The Murmurosi trio invites you on a journey into the heart of Ukrainian vocal traditions with an a cappella concert highlighting the richness of the country’s winter repertoire. Through a selection of koliadky and shchedrivky, songs associated with Christmas and New Year celebrations, the three voices weave a soundscape imbued with spirituality, joy, and poetry.
Drawing mainly on the traditions of the Kyiv and Poltava regions, Murmurosi brings to life melodies passed down from generation to generation. By turns meditative and festive, these songs tell of the hopes, blessings, and rituals that accompany the winter season in Ukrainian villages.
Carried by the purity of the voices and the richness of the vocal harmonies, this concert reveals the full beauty of a living heritage in which every song carries history, memory, and community. An intimate and luminous musical experience that celebrates the strength of oral tradition and the emotion of shared song.

Event Details
Voyage au pays des griots invites you into the rich musical traditions of West Africa in the company of Lasso Sanou, a musician from Burkina Faso born into a family of griots. From a very young age, Lasso was immersed in a variety of traditional repertoires (Peul, Dioula, Bambara, Mossi…), inheriting knowledge passed down from generation to generation by the guardians of memory and the spoken word.
Over the course of his journey, from his native Burkina Faso to Mali and then to Montreal, Lasso Sanou, a griot by birth, has enriched his repertoire through the encounters and exchanges along the way. Through his deep knowledge of oral traditions and his sensitive approach to the Peul flute, he brings to life melodies that have long accompanied the stories, celebrations, and daily life of West African communities.
For griots, music is inseparable from the spoken word. Songs, tales, proverbs, and stories answer one another to carry forward the memory of families, villages, and peoples. Through this concert, Lasso Sanou revisits this living heritage, offering a musical and narrative journey that crosses the cultures and landscapes of West Africa all the way to Montreal, blending ancestral traditions with personal history.
