Graduate of the School of Music and Fine Arts of the State of Paraná (Brazil), Gabriel Schwartz studied the classical repertoire for the flute. He learned Brazilian popular music at the Conservatory of Brazilian Music, where he was introduced to the practice of “CHORO”.
This unique style of instrumental music in which one can find very rich melodies and many improvised parts is considered as “Brazilian jazz”. Multi-instrumentalist (flute, alto saxophone, tenor and sopranino, drums, percussion and guitar), Gabriel has a great experience in the field of arrangement and composition. He has worked as a musician, arranger and assistant director of the “À Base de Sopros” Orchestra from 1998 to 2018.
Gabriel Schwartz is currently studying in the Master’s program in Composition and Sound Creation at the Université de Montréal under the direction of the composer Ana Sokolovic.
