Creative residencies

Each year, the Centre des musiciens supports residency projects to aid professional artists in their artistic and acoustic explorations. This support includes remuneration for compositions, a significant number of rehearsal hours, access to the premises of the Centre, public dissemination of the works as well as support for provincial, federal and international outreach.

Share your project with us

Do you have a project you’d like to share with us? You can send it to us anytime by indicating your artistic idea and sending us documents of your previous works by filling in this form.

To determine whether your project is eligible for this programme, please consider the following artistic criteria:

  1. The cultural environment, i.e. the reflection of musical traditions shared by certain populations of the world;
  2. Intrinsic evolution, i.e. the capacity of a world musical tradition to evolve over time and in its physical and cultural environment;
  3. Styles and languages, i.e. the parameters (vernacular grammar) through which musical traditions are expressed and transmitted.

Here are the 7 criteria used to select the artists in residence:

  1. Artistic and musical excellence;
  2. Depth of approach, i.e. the integrity of the artist in their artistic journey;
  3. Each musician’s openness and willingness to explore in their area of expertise and beyond;
  4. Mastery of the instrument (including voice);
  5. Daring in their artistic approach;
  6. Acoustic practice of instruments (including voice);
  7. Innovation concerning the roots of their language.

Please bear in mind that we receive a large number of proposals every year. As a result, we only follow up with those that come closest to meeting these criteria.
