Their journey invites listeners to follow a route stretching from China (200 BCE – April 9, CE) to Italy (early 15th century), passing through India. Kozé’s mission is to share the legacy of Maloya. Listed as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity since 2009, Maloya—a fusion of memories from the slaves of the past that has become an anthem of protest—possesses an almost sacred aura. It is a song, a music, a dance… an identity. Kozé’s music is as deep and refreshing as the ocean, as dense and precious as the forest, as sparkling and impetuous as a volcano.

A citizen of the world and an insatiable nomad, Daby Touré transcends traditions to blend pop, folk, soul, reggae, jazz, and blues into a resolutely free-spirited style. Unclassifiable and universal, he reminds us that being an African musician is about more than just playing the kora or the djembe. His music breaks down clichés, as he himself puts it: “Listening to my music is like feeling both at home and elsewhere.”
Daby Touré – multi-instrumentalist
