What if children had a space to create a world together? These 50 minute workshops invite children to dive into a collective artistic adventure where storytelling, shadow theatre, poetry and music meet. Through writing an original story, creating characters, singing, kirigami and sound exploration, they develop their imagination, their listening skills and their enjoyment of creating as a group. The session ends with a collaborative performance, where the children become storytellers, musicians and creators of their own poetic world.

Exploring artistic creativity with Christine Séguin
For Christine, teaching music is where imagination, creativity, and openness to others and their sensibility come together, within a methodological framework. This passion first took shape through rigorous classical piano training, begun at age seven, followed by a diploma in music from École secondaire Pierre-Laporte, a DEC from Cégep Saint-Laurent and a bachelor’s degree from UQAM. Over the past seventeen years, she has gained experience in several stimulating settings, including Le Garage à musique at the Fondation du Dr Julien, the OSM’s La Musique aux enfants, Les Petits Chanteurs du Mont-Royal, and École de musique Enchantée. With a playful approach centred on building skills through enjoyment and perseverance, Christine nurtures rhythmic, creative and sensory listening in children, so they can bring their whole being into a living music.

Does my child need prior musical experience?
No, no prerequisites are required. The workshop is designed to welcome curious children, regardless of their artistic background.
How many children are in each group?
The group is limited to a maximum of 8 children, to allow for attentive guidance and a genuine collective creative dynamic.
What is shadow theatre?
It’s a form of artistic expression where silhouettes, often cut out using kirigami, are projected behind a lit screen to tell a story.
Is there a performance at the end of the session?
Yes, the session ends with a collaborative performance, where the children present the story, music and visual world they created together.
What do children learn during this workshop?
