Tombak

The tombak is a Persian hand drum from the family of goblet drums. It is traditionally turned out of single piece of walnut wood and the membrane consists of calf or camel skin is glued to the head. The playing technique of the tombak is very rich and allows the musician to produce an extensive variety of sound and rhythms. The tombak can be used both as an accompaniment instrument in addition to impressive as a solo instrument.

  • Basic and advanced techniques (left hand, right hand)
  • General understanding of Persian musical culture

  • 10 class session: $470
  • Instrument Rental: $30/month (limited upon availability)
