
Laetitia Francoz-Lévesque
Laetitia Francoz-Lévesque is a versatile violinist on the Montreal music scene. Born into a musical family, she grew up in an environment rich in diverse influences. Classically trained, she explored jazz violin before embarking on several musical journeys that profoundly shaped her playing. She studied Transylvanian, Bulgarian, Greek, Ottoman, chaabi, and klezmer music, while continuing to practice Quebec violin and recently incorporating Occitan and Central French repertoires. A violinist, arranger, and composer, she participates in musical creation with ensembles such as L’Herbier, LiKouri, Ramage, and Excavation et Poésie, and collaborates as a freelance musician with groups like Oktopus, Gypsy Kumbia Orchestra, and El Balcon. She performs throughout Quebec, Canada, and Europe, and participates in projects blending music, circus, theatre, dance, poetry, and storytelling.

At the World Musicians Center, you have the chance to learn how to play the Romanian, Ukrainian, Russian, Iranian violin, klezmer, traditional Quebecois, French and Balkan music.
Violin lessons are designed to provide students with a solid and versatile foundation, allowing them to explore different musical styles. Learning prioritizes proper violin and bow technique according to classical principles, fostering a healthy and comfortable posture. Depending on their level, students will explore scales, arpeggios, and various technical exercises to strengthen their mastery of the instrument. Throughout the course, particular attention will be paid to developing musical ear through learning melodies without sheet music, as well as repetition and improvisation exercises, to encourage greater freedom and confidence with the instrument. Above all, the course aims to cultivate the joy of playing and the desire to learn.
