Leandro Ruiz

Group classes: Collective musical creation – sound encounter

Leandro Ruiz is a Colombian musician-educator, symphonic bandleader, composer, flutist and cultural administrator. He holds a bachelor’s degree in music and a master’s degree in education from the Autonomous University of Bucaramanga. For over 15 years, he has developed musical training processes in various public and private educational institutions in Colombia.
He has directed various Colombian musical groups, such as the Symphonic Youth Band of the Municipal School of Arts and Crafts of Bucaramanga and the Igsabelar Ensemble, with whom he has participated in major Colombian festivals such as the Villa de Leyva Jazz Festival in 2022 and Jazz al Parque in 2023.
He is currently the director of the Otras Rutas cultural corporation, with which he has carried out research and collective musical creation projects supported by the Plan de Concertation Nationale of Colombia’s Ministry of Culture. He is also a member of Ensemble Altiplano, with whom he seeks to promote the richness of traditional Colombian and Latin American music in Montreal.
